Invest in Your Career Growth

An expanding sector is a competitive sector, and few industries are expanding faster than healthcare. With 1.9 million healthcare jobs projected to open each year, you’ll need something that differentiates you from the competition so you’re landing a role that makes a real impact. Enter the UCLA Fielding online Master of Healthcare Administration.

An MHA can also expand your earning potential. Healthcare administrators with an advanced degree saw a 15% median salary increase from 2024 to 2025. Nearly 20% of national job postings that require a master’s degree offer salaries of $160K or higher.

Financing Options

Online MHA students may apply for federal financial aid (including loans, work-study and other programs) by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). For more information and eligibility information, visit the UCLA Financial Aid Office website.

One $10,000 scholarship is awarded to an incoming MHA student each start. A completed scholarship application must be submitted to be considered for the scholarship. Students receiving financial assistance from other sources are also eligible to receive the award.

Mahenaz Mahida, a recipient of the $10,000 New Student Scholarship joins the Master of Healthcare Administration with a diverse background in healthcare operations and human resources.

“I have always wanted to pursue my master’s degree because I am a firm believer in lifelong learning. At the same time, I recognize that higher education is a significant investment. Receiving this scholarship is an incredible gift. I am proud to pursue my master’s at UCLA, an institution that recognizes and rewards students.”

The UCLA Fielding School of Public Health partners with a broad range of employers through the AllCampus Workplace Network to offer eligible students and their family members a 10% tuition discount for the online MHA program.

UCLA Health employees are eligible for the AllCampus Workplace Network discount. All other UCLA employees are eligible for a $5,000 stipend that will be disbursed over the course of the program. Students are not eligible to receive both.

Many employers also offer their own educational benefits and professional development funds that can be utilized for tuition assistance. To explore your options, we encourage you to speak with your employer about using workplace benefits to fund your degree.

Here’s how we recommend starting that conversation:

  • Check your handbook or ask your HR department for established processes and guidelines around tuition assistance.
  • Talk to other employees who have utilized your employer’s education benefits to get their perspective on the process and see if they have any tips on how to approach your request effectively.
  • Build a case that an MHA is a smart investment for your position. Explain how the organization will benefit from your advanced skills, leadership experience and expanded network.
  • Meet with your manager or supervisor with these talking points in mind.

Students can seek financial support from a wide range of public and private sources to help pay for some or all of their tuition and fees. We recommend exploring our database of scholarship resources first.

You can also look through scholarship search sites like Scholarships.com and Fastweb.com, as well as local community organizations and professional associations.

Private loans are available to graduate students who have utilized all of their Federal Loan eligibility, but still have remaining costs. UCLA strongly encourages students to explore all of their federal loan options before pursuing a private loan, as these loans can have higher interest rates, stricter repayment plans and more impact on your credit score.

You should also keep in mind that being approved for a private loan often depends on your credit score, but a cosigner can improve the chances for approval.

For more information, review our private loan guide.

Service members, veterans, dependents and other beneficiaries may apply for education benefits through the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs at www.va.gov. UCLA can provide assistance with applying for federal and state education benefits.

Payment Options

For complete payment plan information, visit the BruinPay Plan page.

Payment plans provide a convenient means for paying tuition and fees through regularly scheduled payments. At UCLA, eligible MHA students can utilize BruinPay Plan to pay their term fees in monthly installments.

UCLA expects that students will either enroll in the payment plan or make a full payment for all charges by the payment due date for each term. If payment is not received or if you have not enrolled in the payment plan by the due date, your course registration may be affected.

Please note that the payment plan is not available for the summer terms.

Eligibility

Most UCLA students are eligible for the payment plan. You will not be considered eligible if any of the following are true:

  • Your tuition is fully covered by financial aid
  • You have an outstanding short-term loan (to lift this restriction, the balance must be paid off prior to the 19th day of the enrollment month)
  • You have an unpaid balance from a previous term
  • You have three or more returned checks/eCheck payments
  • You have a balance due for the summer session/term
  • Your account balance has already been paid
